About Me

My name is Carlos, and I am a Software Engineer from San Diego, California. I am a gaming enthusiast, starting with the SNES when I was 5; things only went downhill from there. I have always been fascinated with video games, how they work, and what makes them tick. This fascination led me to tinker with computers, which eventually inspired me to pursue a degree in Computer Science later in life.

You might be wondering what "TakoBits" is. My sister came up with the name a long time ago after our dog, Tako. She had an Instagram story highlight featuring Tako called "64 Takobits." Our dog's original name was Lucky, but my sister thought that was too generic. So, she renamed him Tako, which means "octopus" in Japanese, because his curly hair made him look like an octopus.

Octopuses have 8 legs, and 8-bit era computers are some of my favorites. GitHub has a weird cat-octopus mascot. And so, the site TakoBits.dev was born!

Unfortunately, our dog Tako passed away back in 2021.
